Peculiar Zone...

I grew up in a place where appearance wasn't really a factor because none of us had much. I started doing hair by offering services to the kids in the projects of East Nashville. I knew that I had a gift. I understood it was a gift from God because it was something that I wasn't taught to do I just knew how. Initially I didn't accept this gift as apart of my purpose, it was just something to do to make a quick buck or just to extend kindness to others to make them feel good about themselves. I kept trying to escape the calling on my life because I wanted to something else. I knew I was peculiar when God kept reaching for me where I was to reach others. I thought I had to get me together first. He wanted to use me as is. His promise for my life comes with a life time warranty. He gave me this vision of unity and empowerment of women with hair being the foundation of connecting with other women. Its not just about hair for me its about connecting and fellowshipping with other women who are just like me. I get the opportunity to share my story and listen to others stories which allows us to grow and learn from each other. We women tend to not support each other and we seem to always be in competition with each other, but if only we come together we are a force. Some of us are ashamed of where we come from, the things we have done, and even the direction we are headed. Don't be....OWN IT!! Owning it means acknowledging or admitting to whatever ‘IT’ is. Taking ownership to it and embracing it. IT doesn’t define you. You define IT. Wear IT. Love IT. Own IT
